Codes For Types Of Construction
The harmonized and the recognised national power cables to DIN VDE 0281 and 282 are coded as follows in accordance with the "System of codes for harmonized power cables" on the CENELEC harmonization document HD 361 and DIN VDE 0292 :
The codes for types of construction consists of 3 parts which provide information regarding a cables major features.
First
Part
The first part contains the type of rule and the permissible nominal voltage. The letter H indicates that the characteristics of the cable fully comply with the harmonized rules and is therefore permitted in the following countries with no additional national certification :
Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, Finland.
The cables with the letter A are only permissible in certain countries, depending on the harmonized rules.
Second
Part
The second part indicates the insulation/sheath materials, special aspects of construction and, after a hyphen, the type of conductor.
Third
Part
The third part reveals information about the number of cores and the nominal cross section of the conductor. In addition, the code "G" or "X" (earlier designation to VDE 0250 was "J" or "O") indicates whether or not a green/yellow core exists.
