The Easy Wire plug is a slim BS 1363 three-pin unit. Kitemark approved, it is designed to make wiring as straight-forward as possible. The two halves are hinged, for a start. The terminals are colour coded, and aligned in a row so that you don't have to cut the wires to different lengths (and inevitably end up with buckled bits that stop conventional plugs fitting together properly). There is a simple, integral cord grip. The slimline design makes it harder to dislodge from a socket by accident and it means it fits behind cabinets or into floor recesses much easier. It also looks very stylish. The fuse can be removed without opening the plug - it sits in a pull-out red plastic holder on the socket-side of the plug, unobtrusive while the plug is in use. There are benefits all round. Clearly, consumers who think wires still come in red and black will find the design enormously helpful. But it makes wiring much quicker and simpler for everyone, including professional electricians.
